Mark 2:1-12

For the Second Sunday of the Great Fast

Thanks to word causing a hum,
Do they come.
Capernaum,
The place where he’s teaching from.
Travelling with great hurt and zeal –
All can feel
Empyreal
Powers that are said to heal.
Four men carrying a friend
To portend
He attend
To a body needing mend.
First, to be cleansed of sin –
All that’s been
Below skin –
Then restoring may begin.
Yet Scribes, hearing of this show
Say, ‘No go!
Don’t you know?
Only our God may act so!’
The forgiven told to walk:
None now balk,
All in shock –
A new teaching for the flock.

From carnal ailment freed
By his deed;
A miracle, repentance must precede.
