How opinion flows with a touch of drink;
Say your mind, let’s adventure what you think!
Some say there are subjects not to invoke:
Sex, religion, politics—to provoke.
Yet there is a chance here for us to find
What may in fact be common to our kind.
Oh, just take a jab, I’ll handle a stab,
Conversation as relation rehab.
‘There are so many films to be reviewed—’
‘Just try not to start a family feud!’
‘We could hear some Mahler, or perhaps Bach?’
‘I’ve always liked indie but prefer rock.’
‘Know you any magic?’ ‘A trick or two…’
‘How could I not have known this about you?’
‘Pass the opener, she needs another!’
‘Now, you must share this cake with your brother!’
Around the room words continue to fly
Yet, suddenly, we have to say goodbye.
For all the children have begun to yawn,
And no sense from this babble may be drawn;
Such are the signs of an evening spent well.
For all these folks does my heart now swell.
So, we lament, as our night has grown old,
Though we know of many more to be told.
