A Solar Waltz
To move around you or you around us,
Long ago—making for vicious debate;
Yet invoking such a need to discuss,
To reinterpret the movement of Fate.
Have we now discovered your final truth?
Mere stardust formed by chance to be our light.
Or is there more to you, once known in youth,
A connection found in rays shining bright?
No matter the motion, there is no change
In the warmth you give to our humble plot.
Dumb luck as too unlikely to arrange
A relation as this—none better sought.
……….I cannot believe bare chance could construe
……….Such a cosmic dance, done only with you.

Leaves in the Wind
Do you know from where you have gained this life,
Or do you simply embrace your present?
Have you ever borne a moment of strife,
Maintaining this form in which you were sent?
Moving softly with each and every breeze,
I find in this not one trace of distress,
For I see only a dance of such ease,
In which you never ask for more or less.
I gaze upon you, so still and serene,
Having given more than those of us free,
To these small creatures, a home you have been,
To learn to love: from you, what can I see?
……….Your sole desire – to reach up to our Sun,
……….Fulfilling your one duty, never outdone.

Seas to Beyond
Then violent, now turned quickly serene,
No way to determine your coming mood;
A chaos beyond any other seen,
Maintaining with the land an endless feud.
Our lives, away you could easily whisk,
Yet here we are, drawn to your awesome depth.
Great reward found solely by greater risk—
Below, always lurking possible death.
Challenged only by men of great daring,
Though many see them as imprudent fools.
With adventurers, such caution sparring,
Your danger worth more than mere gold or jewels.
……….You forever inspire such fear and love,
……….Perhaps reflecting the divine above.

I love this.
